AI Content Labs gives you the tools to create your own templates with any of the available AI providers.
This allows you to define specific patterns in AI outputs. For example, you can create a template to respond to customer feedback or create YouTube scripts. The possibilities are endless and are only limited by your creativity.
How to create a custom template? #
This will take you to an interface with several fields to complete. The most important parts of creating a template are the AI configuration, the samples, and the formula.
AI Configuration
The AI configuration defines the parameters that our template will use to create content. Its functionality is the same as in the long-form editor, so you can review further details at this link.
For our example, we use AI21 Labs with the following parameters:
Samples:
The samples set the patterns that the AI will take as a reference when creating the content with the template. Below we show the samples used for the “Ad copy – Google” template.

##
This sample has 4 examples that the AI will take as a reference to create content. All the examples have the same structure; however, the following values have a different value in each example:
- Company.
- Description.
- Headline.
- Ad.
The first three (Company, Description, and Headline) represent the variables of our model and the last one (Ad) represents the expected output. Identifying the variables and the expected output in our examples will be useful to define our formula.
Another important point to keep in mind is the closing tag. Each example must establish a closing pattern that will serve as a reference to the AI to end the text. This closing pattern must be included as a stop sequence in the AI configuration. In this case, we are using the closing pattern ##.
Note: In the sample form, you can use it similar to the AI providers playground.
Formula
From the sample, we set the formula following the same structure:
Write a persuasive and personalized Google ad for the following company.
Company: %Company%
Description: %Description%
Headline: %Headline%
Ad:
As we saw in the previous point, Company, Description, and Headline are the variables. In our formula, they are represented between percentage signs. Ad is the expected output; therefore it is not included as a variable.
Note: The text between the percentage signs is free, it is taken as a reference for the final interface of the template for the user. You can include other text without any inconvenience.
Other template configurations
Next, we complete the other settings of the template:
- Title: The title of the template.
- Description: You can add a description for the template that informs the user about what it does.
- Category: Assign the template to one of the available categories.
- Status: If it is private, it will only be available to you. If it is public, it can be used by the community.
- Share options: Only available for public templates. If it is marked as Open Source, it will not only be available to all users, but it can also be duplicated (you will be able to see the examples and the formula).
- Video link: Add an informative YouTube link about your template.
The final result of our example template would be:
Using the Template:
Once the settings are saved, you can access your template with the informative message that will appear at the top or by going to the My Templates section.
For the template explained in this tutorial, the result is as follows:
We can see the three inputs representing the variables defined in the formula. By filling in the fields and clicking on Generate, we will get the results on the right side.
In the options button next to the title, you have a quick menu to add to favorites, delete, edit or duplicate your template.
Open-Source Templates
You can learn more about template creation by duplicating some open-source templates available in the community:
Templates with Davinci OpenAI #
OpenAI’s Davinci model has the ability to follow instructions. This allows us to create simple templates without adding samples; just defining the formula. For example:
Write a creative ad for the following product to run on Facebook aimed at parents:
Product: %Product%
Ad:
This formula will create the following template:
With this type of template, the use of tokens is greatly reduced, allowing you to save more money.
This template is available as open source in the community, and you can duplicate it for further analysis: Ad from product description. Another example is the Essay outline template.
